Toys That Can Be Used Outdoors and Indoors

The end of summer is the best time to buy your kids some new outdoor toys since companies are trying to reduce their stock with price reductions before the cold weather sets in. However, the big downside to this is that your children get very little time to play with their brand-new things since chilly fall nights are on their way. That’s why it’s good to buy toys that can be used outdoors and indoors. That way, your kids can play with them all year long. So, without further ado, here’s our list of outside toys that your kid can play with inside as well.

Ride-On Vehicles

It doesn’t matter if they’re pushable, pullable, or self-powered—ride-on cars are a great choice for outdoor toys that you can convert into indoor ones. If you get an electric ride-on, make sure you get a 6V one and not a 12V one. There are quite a few differences between the two, but the most significant one is the speeds at which they move.

Obviously, your child will have significantly less room to move around in the house than they would outside, and you’ll have to move breakable objects that they might crash into. Still, your kid will get a kick out of being able to drive inside. Not even mommy and daddy can do that!

Bouncy Toys

Whether it’s one of those hopper balls, bouncy shoes, or a child-friendly pogo stick, another type of outside toy that your child can use inside is the one that can bounce around. Like before, make sure that you remove all breakable objects from their play area. You’ll also want to check that the toy won’t damage your floor. You may need to purchase versions of bouncy shoes and pogo sticks with wide, soft bottoms, but you can’t go wrong with a hopper ball. No way one of those will damage your floors.

Small-Scale Sports

Most sports require a lot of space for kids to play them, but if they’re young enough, they could play a couple of them inside as well. For example, buying them a small basketball hoop or soccer net will bring them hours of entertainment while inside. A mini-golf set will also be a lot of fun inside. They might even be able to get more creative indoors by using the stairs as an extreme way to get the ball to the hole.

Sandbox Toys

For our final set of toys that can be used outdoors and indoors, we’re not recommending that you put a sandbox inside of your home—that would be a recipe for disaster. What we suggest is that you bring your child’s sandbox toys inside to play with. Dump trucks and tractors are a good time no matter where they are. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case for shovels and pails. However, they do make great bathtub toys as long as you’re ready for the possibility of your kid pouring a bucket of water on the floor on occasion.
