Concepts X Versace Chain Reaction Sneaker Pays Homage To Jennifer Lopez’s Iconic Green Dress Nearly 20 Years Later

Concepts X Versace Chain Reaction Sneaker

Concepts recently teamed up with Versace on a Chain Reaction sneaker collaboration that is inspired by Jennifer Lopez’s famous plunging emerald green dress she wore nearly twenty years ago to the 2000 Grammys.

With J Lo turning 50 this month, it’s time to celebrate the icon’s memorable fashion choices including her provocative silk chiffon dress that almost broke the internet. Concepts has teamed up with Versace to create a shoe that tells the story of that dress and everyone is drooling over the design.

These stunning jungle-green sneakers, priced at $1075 per pair, launched exclusively in both men’s and women’s sizes through Concepts last Friday, (July 19) at the brand’s Boston location. Even though these beauties are being sold left and right, there are some pairs of the Chain Reaction collab still available via Cncpts.com. The look is available in men’s and women’s sizing with a $1,075 retail price.

Official Press Release below:

Concepts is honored to announce its collaborative project with Versace. The seminal fashion house is as influential and groundbreaking as ever, and the brand-new, limited-edition Chain Reaction sneaker is the perfect representation of the brand’s current impact on the world of fashion and forward-thinking footwear. Therefore, it is a perfect vessel for Concepts to do what it does best, weaving a narrative into the silhouette and sharing an anecdote from which Versace touched our lives.

This specific story harkens back nearly 20 years ago when Jennifer Lopez made headlines by donning Versace’s silk chiffon, jungle-themed dress. After setting the red carpet on fire and presenting an award in the stunning green dress, she was the focus of all forms of media the next day. In fact, Google executive Eric Schmidt said in a 2015 essay that J Lo’s dress set a record, at the time, for the most search queries and also inspired Google to create the image search function. The rest is history, as J Lo’s fame skyrocketed and people are still referencing the iconic Versace piece today.

Released in conjunction with J Lo’s 50th birthday, the Chain Reaction sneaker, pictured below, is Concepts’ take on the entertainment icon’s eye-popping dress. It features a jungle motif-printed nylon upper with green iridescent TPU tooling, set off by a nude leather tongue and the head-turning, lightweight, and chain-linked rubber sole. The Concepts X Versace Chain Reaction sneaker is now available in women’s sizes (35-40) and men’s sizes (39-47) for $1075 at Concepts’ Boston store and online via www.cncpts.com.

This latest collaboration furthers Concepts’ footprint in the luxury shoe market, bringing the brand one step closer to the December opening of its flagship store on Boston’s famed Newbury Street, the city’s most sought-after shopping district.
