Literary Day – 19th Century Rhymes at Crossroads Village

Railfans Weekend at Crossroads Village

Watch 19th Century Stories Come to Life

Are you ready to see characters from your favorite 19th century stories come to life?  The theme this year is 19th Century Rhymes during the Crossroads Village annual event, Literary Day. Before TV and movies became so popular, storybooks gave children a way to escape their realities of their daily lives. Through the pages of a book, they could explore far-a-way places, go on adventures with the book’s characters, solve mysteries and be heroes!

On August 11, 2018 from 10 am to 5 pm, attendees can explore 19th century nursery rhymes with crafts, games and fun at Crossroads Village. Make sure to come dressed up as your favorite nursery rhyme character.

Want to have more fun?

  • Visit the General Store for treasures, and watch as tradespeople turn out items like brooms and iron horseshoes that were essential to families in the 19th century.
  • Take a ride around beautiful Mott Lake on our double-decker paddle wheeler the Genesee Belle, or observe the summer landscape from a seat on the Huckleberry Railroad while you travel a 40-minute loop through the countryside.
  • Activities will be located throughout the village

Guests are invited to come early and stay all day. There are lovely places to picnic in the Village so feel free to pack snacks, lunches and drinks. Don’t feel like packing?  Snacks, beverages and lunches are also available to purchase on property.
