Halloween Themed Pudding Cups

Halloween Themed Pudding Cups

What kid, or adult for that matter, doesn’t enjoy fun food for Halloween? It makes the holiday that much more special.  We recently spent an afternoon decorating  Snack  Pack pudding cups for Halloween.  Some of the kids jumped in to help with the decorating. You could say we all went a little batty.  Once we were done decorating the cups, we came up with a fun way to top the pudding cups with candy kabobs.

To decorate the cups we created a template for a bat that would fit on top of the cups – with wings outstretched. To make them stand out a little more, we placed a bright yellow moon underneath them before taping them to the lids (complete instructions below).

While I was at Meijer picking up the Snack Pack pudding cups, I also grabbed a bunch of soft candy that I thought would look cute on the candy kabobs.  The candy kabobs were a fun project and looked really cute in the cups.

One trick that we found was to microwave the peeps for 3-4 seconds before trying to push the stick through – it went so much smoother that way.  Just be careful not to overdo it or you will have peep all over the inside of your microwave.

Here is the list of what you will need to make your batty pudding cups:

Cup Decorations

Black Paper – I used origami paper but a stiffer card stock would also work nicely.

Yellow Paper

Small amount of white paper

Fun or googly eyes

Glue and Tape

Directions

Create a small template of a bat to use as your guide, trace around it on the black paper and cut out as many bats as you need.

Cut a circle out of the yellow paper.  Glue the bat on top of the yellow paper and place a circle of tape underneath the moon to tape it to the top of the pudding cup.

An optional step would be to spray the bats with glitter.

Candy Kabobs

You will need to the following to assemble:

Wooden Skewers – ours were too long so we cut them down to about 6-7 inches in length

Assorted Soft Candy – Peeps, Marshmallows, Orange Slices, Taffy, Dots or other fun soft candy.

Redi-Whip

Directions

Play around with the candy to find out which way you want to thread them onto the skewer.  If the candy seems a little too hard to push the stick through – trying microwaving it for just a few seconds to soften it a little.

Once you have them all made up – place them on a tray. Once the kids remove the batty lid from the pudding cups, place a nice big puffy cloud of Redi-Whip on the top and then top it off with a candy kabob!

Now through October 31st there is a great Meijer mPerks coupon for $1 off when you purchase four of the 4-packs.  After you log in to your mPerks account click the coupon button and search “snack pack”. There are so many fun flavors to pick from – our favorites were Ice Cream Sandwich and Chocolate Caramel.

Once we were all done with cups we thought our new cute little critters deserved a proper display.  We stuck a few branches in the top of a pumpkin, then put a rubberband underneath the lid and attached a small piece of picture hanging wire.

Then we wrapped the wire around the branches (quite a few times so they wouldn’t fall off).

I told you we went a little batty!
