Outdoor Fun at Greenfield Village

navy-chevron Last weekend, I celebrated National Get Outdoors Day at Greenfield Village.  Get Outdoors Day offers activities for every age and comfort level, from campouts to hiking and everything in between.  This day I enjoyed perfectly clear skies, a warm, shining sun and plenty of cooling shade when I needed to get out of the sun. National Get Outdoors Day I had never been to Greenfield Village; I can’t believe I’ve missed out on all the fun, family friendly activities available at this Detroit landmark. I started the day by visiting the OFF!® booth. OFF was in attendance to help spread the word about how important it is to  protect yourself and your family from bugs when you visit Greenfield.  It was a  day filled with activities for the whole family!  I checked out some OFF!® products, grabbed an OFF!® towelette sample and took a fun photo in their outdoor photo booth.  Then I headed into the park with a good friend and her family. Greenfield Village Entrance Greenfield Village is a world frozen in time.  The park holds 83 authentic, historic structures, from Noah Webster’s home (where he wrote the first American dictionary) to Thomas Edison’s Menlo Park laboratory, to the courthouse where Abraham Lincoln practiced law. Families filled the sidelines of the baseball field ready for some outdoor fun.  No one used baseball mitts…ouch! Historic-Baseball   It was such a wonderful day to enjoy being outside. There were some really fun activities planned in addition to the historic baseball game like an environmental program in the Village Pavilion, and presentations by a historic forest ranger on horseback. Plus, we got the opportunity  to take a tour of the usually-closed William Ford Horse Barn. Walking on the lush grass, breathing in the fresh air, birds sang all around us. windmill  If you get the chance to get out and visit Greenfield Village, go now and remember to take proactive measures against mosquito bites by using OFF!® at Greenfield Village or where you may be this summer!
