If you are a fan of fine music particularly jazz music, you will enjoy the 7th annual Canton Color Tour Summer Jazz Series. It has gotten off to a great start with “crowds as large as 1,500 people.”
“Despite the very warm weather, we have had record turnouts for the concerts! It’s a great night of entertainment, restaurant carryout specials, and commemorative gifts and prizes,” says Kathleen Salla, Canton Downtown Development Coordinator.
The Jazz tour will continue through August with Jazz guitarist John E. Lawrence, premiere vocalist Kimmie Horne, saxophonist Randy Scott, and the soul jazz of Lin Rountree.
The great perk about these concerts is they are free! You will see them taking place in shopping center parking lots located in the color blocks on Ford Road in Canton. Colored banners and decorative street lamps will guide you to the local music events. “The banners are color coded by blocks and numbered.”
Each week, the first 25 people will be offered a commemorative gift if they turn in receipts for a minimum of $25 from a Canton merchant. Many of the local restaurants offer carry-out deals and specials so this is a great way to grab some dinner and head out to enjoy the free concert. All specials will be posted at the ShopCanton Gazebo and can be scanned into smart phones via a QR code. You can also take advantage of free ShopCanton bags which will also be available at the gazebo.
The jazz series concert are held in cooperation with Canton Leisure Services and the Canton Chamber of Commerce. It will run for another 4 weeks. Don’t miss this line up below:
