Some of you may be familiar with the HEXBUG products; the Nano, Crab, Inchworm orAnt.  Well, move over little guys the huge HEXBUG Spider is coming to a town near you!  It stands three inches tall – that’s tarantula size. The HEXBUG Spider Micro Robotic Creature is fun to operate and watch (and scare people with). It comes with a two channel remote control unit.  The HEXBUG spider has six legs (p.s. spiders normally have eight legs) that help send it in every direction plus the top portion can spin completely around.  It also has a red eye that lights up.  It comes in 5 bright translucent colors; red, green, blue, orange or teal.

My seven year old son had the pleasure of helping me on this review.  He loved it! He has some of the other smaller creatures and was really happy that thing was so much bigger in size.  He loved the spinning feature and the red eye.   Also, the remote is very small and can be hidden your hand – this comes in handy when you want to spook some of your friends.    He did find out the hard way that you should play with it on the floor, not on the counter, it’s a long way down and they are kind of delicate.  No worries though his Dad snapped the bum leg back into place – good as new.   That was his only complaint – and it wasn’t much of a complaint.   My son was fascinated with it, he had it coming out from behind everything you can imagine to scare his unsuspecting friends.  From a parent standpoint I liked it too. I liked that my son was having so much fun with it.  I wish they didn’t take quite so many batteries though.

The HEXBUG spider is a little on the pricey side – it retails for $24.99, but remember it does provide a huge dose of fun.  Most major retails carry it or you can purchase at www.hexbug.com   Now my son has his eye a couple of the other new HEXBUG products, the Larva and the Hive Habitat – Santa are you listening?

My son loves hexbugs and has been eying the spider. He all ready has it on his Wish List for Christmas 🙂

Jackie (Literary Escapism)

My son does not have one yet, but after a visit to the Robot Garage in Birmingham he is insisting he gets one soon. I don’t think he would care which bug he ended up with one, he would simply love to have one. *grin*

My son doesn’t have any of the hex bugs yet but it’s already on his list for Santa. I’m thinking if he had his choice it would be the spider.
