Kensington Metropark

Nature Center
Fish Camp

Tuesday, July 19 – Friday, July 22 from 9:30 am to noon or 1 pm to 3:30 pm (select morning or afternoon session)
Kids will make their own tackle and a fish print T-shirt, discover fun facts about fish, catch pond bugs and go fishing. They will acquire the fishing skills needed to make their own fishing stories come true. Ages 8-12. Fee $75 per child. Pre-registration required.

Farm Center
Farmer for a Day Camp

Tuesday, July 26 from 10 am to 3 pm
This is a program for children interested in working on a farm. Kids will work alongside our farmers cleaning stalls, feeding and brushing animals, planting and more. This program is designed to be educational and fun; children will leave with a greater appreciation of farm life. This program is limited to 12 children. Ages 7-15. Fee $30 per child. Pre-registration required. Registration forms are available at the Farm Center office.

 

Indian Springs Metropark

Environmental Discovery Center
Nature Tech Day Camp
Tuesday, August 2 – Friday, August 5 from 9:30 am to 2 pm
If you like computers and also being outside, this four-day camp is for you! Campers will get a chance to investigate all kinds of things in nature using hands-on technology and gadgets. Equipment like GPS units, microscopes, weather stations, data loggers, computers and more will be used to find out what the naked eye can’t see about the amazing natural areas in the park. Open to children entering grades 4-6. Fee $75 per child. Pre-registration required.

 

Wolcott Mill Metropark

Historic Center
Fish Camp

Friday, July 15 from 10 am to 2 pm
Explore the world of fish and how to catch them. Make a fish T-shirt and fishing lures, learn boat safety, knot tying, casting, fish identification and find out about water quality. Bring a plain shirt and lunch. Ages 7 and up. Fee $25 per child. Pre-registration required.

1820s Settler Camp
Wednesday, July 20 from 10 am to 2 pm
Investigate the life of a Michigan settler in the 1820s. Learn what these early Americans encountered, how they made a home and other necessities for survival, and what kids of that time period did for fun. Bring a lunch. Ages 7 and up. Fee $25 per child. Pre-registration required.

Astronomy Camp
Friday, July 22 from 10 am to 2 pm
Search the heavens right on earth by creating a constellation viewer, pocket sundial and a solar bracelet. Travel the solar system on a walk and look at how light pollution effects what we see. Bring a lunch. Ages 7 and up. Fee $25 per child. Pre-registration required.

Farm Center
Farmer’s Camp
Wednesday, July 20 – Thursday July 21 from 9 am to 3 pm
Campers will discover, hands-on, the wonders of life on the farm, and will help us with our daily farm chores. They will also go on a farm/conservation walk, make crafts, and learn basic horticulture skills. They will also learn about horse care and go on a wagon ride. Ages 11-14. Fee $70 per child. Pre-registration required.

 

Oakwoods Metropark

Native American Adventure Camp
Wednesday, July 20 – Thursday, July 21 from 10 am to 2 pm
Oakwoods Metropark sits on a portion of a former Native American Reservation. This camp focuses on who the Native Americans were and what it would have been like to live there long ago. Ages 8-14. Fee $65 per child. Pre-registration required.

Day-Camping Camp for Kids
Saturday, July 23 from 10 am to 4 pm
This camp focuses on finding a campsite and setting it up. From pitching a tent, to cooking on an open fire, you’ll learn all the basics of camping. Plus, go hiking, hear stories and play games! Ages 8-14. Fee $50 per child. Pre-registration required.

Summer Bug Camp
Wednesday, July 27 – Thursday, July 28 from 10 am to 2 pm
Grab a net and search for the awesome insects that live in the park. Spend the second day searching the fields for the majestic monarch butterfly in all stages of its life. Ages 8-14. Fee $50 per child. Pre-registration required.

Girls’ Nature Camp
Tuesday, August 2 – Thursday, August 4 from 10 am to 2 pm
Join us for three full days of outdoor activities: hiking, birding, nature journaling, crafts and so much more. No Boys Allowed!! Ages 8-14. Fee $100 per child. Pre-registration required.

Arts & Crafts Camp
Wednesday, August 10 – Thursday, August 11 from 10 am to 2 pm
Let’s get creative! Come to Oakwoods and spend two whole days learning traditional camp crafts! Painting, weaving, dying, gluing, beading, stamping, building, cutting, a few surprises and more! Ages 8-14. Fee $75 per child. Pre-registration required.

Marshlands Museum & Nature Center
Moving Adventure Day Camp

Tuesday, July 19 – Friday, July 22 from 10 am to 3 pm
Children will explore the truth behind the science and history presented in movies. Young investigators will use crafts, play act, dress up and participate in hands-on fun. Snacks will be provided; children must bring their own lunches. Ages 6-12. Fee $75 per child. Pre-registration required.
