Problem Solved…I wish!

You must solve the problem before you can come up with a solution.  I’m not sure where I heard that saying, but it makes sense when I think about ending child hunger.  I’ve been working on the problem of child hunger for over a year and the solution has yet to be found. There are still children that are hungry here in the Detroit area…they could even be as close as the child sitting right next to your child in his or her classroom.

I think about hungry children all the time since I first came into contact with the Child Hunger Ends Here campaign in 2010.  Ever since I participated in the campaign with ConAgra, I haven’t given up the fight.

Did you know that $1= 5 meals!!!  And, did you know that when you donate to Feeding America, your donation goes to your local Feeding America food bank?  Our metro Detroit food bank is Forgotten Harvest.  Not only can you donate money that will be spent to buy food, but you can also donate food and/or your time.

Another way you can give back is buy purchasing ConAgra brand food that has the Child Hunger Ends Here pushpin and enter the code found on the package (here).  For every code you enter, one meal is provided to a hungry child.  The foods included are:

  • Marie Callender’s
  • Chef Boyardee
  • Healthy Choice
  • Peter Pan
  • Kid Cuisine
  • Banquet

Whatever you can do, however you can help, matters.  Doing nothing will only make the problem worse and we will never solve the issue of child hunger.  Children are our future.  When we are old and need those children’s minds to be thinking about world solutions, we need those minds to be strong.  They won’t be strong if their growing bodies aren’t fed.

I have continued beyond the Child Hunger Ends Here campaign that I worked on with ConAgra in the fight to end child hunger.  It is now a passion of mine to educate and participate.
