The Friendship Circle of Michigan is in the final stretch of an innovative, real-time social media campaign, called “Magnet Madness.” The non-profit organization created Magnet Madness as an innovative way to increase their Facebook-based interactions within their online community of 17,900+ fans.

On Monday, November 1st , the campaign launched with the release of the first of 25 challenges. Each challenge calls for fans to capture a photo the famous purple Friendship Circle magnet in a certain imaginative pose. One example of a challenge is, “Make sure to take a photo of the magnet at this mystery location. First Challenge Riddle…”Total is eighteen. Look for orange and bright green!” The winning photo was of The Friendship Circle magnets at a local 711.

Throughout the Magnet Madness campaign, The Friendship Circle has been actively tracking their analytics on Facebook. Their Facebook page has been averaging 93 pictures posted to The Friendship Circle wall, 122 comments per day, 144 likes and 3,940 daily active users. These analytics amount to a staggering 760% increase in user interaction during the campaign.

On Sunday, November 7th, The Friendship Circle invites the entire Facebook community to attend a post-Magnet Madness party to celebrate the success of the campaign and award the grand prize winner of the final challenge with an iPad. The party begins at 9pm at The Friendship Circle’s facility at 6892 West Maple Road, West Bloomfield, MI 48322.

The Friendship Circle has been paving the path of social media for social good since winning $125,000 in the highly publicized Chase Community Giving contest. They understand the importance of leveraging and building their online community through highly interactive, cost-free campaigns as a means to strengthen their branding and messaging.
