Pediatric Dentistry Makes Going to the Dentist a Lot of Fun!

It’s fair to say I’ve been to a fair few dentist appointments in my time. I even had to go to an emergency dentist in Fort Lauderdale after my tooth got knocked out after a football hit me in the face! But just because I’m comfortable with the dentist doesn’t mean everyone is.

Going to the dentist, for a child (and even SOME adults), can be a frightening experience. The long metal objects and the weird noises are enough to send a child running for the nearest exit, but if a dentist office takes the time to introduce a child in a fun and informative way, it can make going to the Pediatric Dentist a lot less frightening.

Pediatric Dentistry in Rochester Hills, MI has got it down pat when it comes to making a child’s first appointment a special, informative and fright free event. From their spacious waiting room equip with a fish tank and toys to the exam and cleaning area that looks more like a party room at first glance, the office is nothing short of open and inviting.

Not only is the offices appearance inviting, but every single hygienist, receptionist and doctor beams welcome happy faces as you move your way through the entire dentist office. A friend of ours, Jayson, recommended we use this practice because he’s heard such great things and it certainly didn’t disappoint! Jayson Tabor is a Hendersonville dentist so he knows his stuff and I trusted his suggestion. If he lived a little closer, we would certainly visit him but because we don’t, we had to have the next best thing.

It was my 3 yr olds first cleaning, so I documented the entire experience with my camera. We started with fish gazing and playing with toys in the waiting room which was a short 10 minute wait. And honestly, I think that was the longest we’ve ever had to wait. I usually barely have a chance to sit down and check my phone for emails before we are called in, but today was an unusually busy day in the office and my guess is that parents are trying to get their kids ready for the new school year.

They first took us to a small room where they played a cute video about a dinosaur and his first visit to the dentist. My other daughter was whisked away to her scheduled cleaning while we watched the short video. Then after the movie, they took my 3 yr old by the hand and I followed behind with the stroller and my 9 month old down the hall and around the corner to an examining chair right next to her older sister.

I love the set-up of the dental cleaning area. It is very open, there are dental chairs lined up with some enclosed in private rooms and others divided by curtains and there are cushioned benches along the opposite wall where Moms, Dads and other siblings can sit to watch while waiting. Like I said before, all of the staff is smiling and friendly, so I compare every visit to Pediatric Dentistry to Disney Land because it reminds me of “The Happiest Place on Earth”. Bright happy colors, clean and organized, balloons floating on the ceiling, rolls of stickers on the walls, baskets of goodies, game boys and so much more.

On your child’s first visit, Pediatric Dentistry makes the experience special by taking your child’s picture and printing it out for a souvenir. They even date the picture which makes a great keepsake for the baby book! I think this is one of my favorite parts of the entire first visit…or is it the fact that Mom even gets a “prize” from a special adult goodie basket. I remember with my oldest daughter I got a nail file. Today I got a magnet… would have loved another nail file, but they were out…bummer!

Your child leaves the office with a goodie bag filled with a new toothbrush, travel size toothpaste, a prize they chose from one of the many goodie baskets, children’s dentle floss, a sticker and a balloon. Like I mentioned, it looks like you’ve walked into a party room and when you leave, the party favor bag goes home with you too!

All in all, we had a wonderful first dentist appointment and can’t wait to go back to Pediatric Partners!
