A Day Out in Downtown Rochester

It was Friday afternoon and and the day was gorgeous!  It seemed like everyone was out and about in downtown Rochester bicycling, roller blading and walking along the sidewalks on Main.

I decided I needed to get out of the house, unplug for the day and spend some much needed mommy-daughter time with my girls.

Our first stop was Red Knapps Dairy Bar.  My girls love going there because I always get them a chocolate milkshake to share and they love to sit at the “bar” and watch the waitresses scurry around taking orders and filling orders.

Red Knapps Dairy Bar has been a downtown Rochester eatery since the 1950’s.  Still with much of the same decor, the Dairy Bar is presently owned and operated by Red’s son Gerald and his son Miles Knapp.

The food is always good (try the onion rings-they are to die for) and the service is fast and friendly, but beware… we were there at 2 p.m. and it was packed!  A local favorite for sure!

Then we headed down to the Lytle Pharmacy which has by far the best pharmacy shopping I’ve come across.  I would compare it to a Hallmark meets old town pharmacy.  They carry unique toys, cards, gifts and so much more!  We always have fun browsing the Lytle Pharmacy!  I was kind of surprised when I asked an employee if they carried soaps geared to children and she said she had no idea.  I’m wondering what she is doing there if she doesn’t even know what they carry or where to find such items.  Despite the inability to help me find what I’m looking for, we will still shop there because of their unique selection.

Our day ended at a local garage sale where we found a handful of books and a few toys.  Love spending time with my girls, especially in the City of Rochester!
