Ways to Make This Summer Awesome for the Kids

Depending on your kid’s ages, they might not understand what’s going on, why people are wearing masks, and why they can’t see their friends. As their parents, we can’t let COVID-19 completely ruin their summer, too. Luckily, there are plenty of fun activities to do with your kids this summer that will keep them busy and their spirits high. If you’d like some ideas to make this summer awesome for the kids, check out our list below.

Go Camping

Kids love to get outside to explore, and if they’ve never been camping before, get yourself a tent and get out in the wilderness. Make a checklist of things you want to take, like sleeping bags, cooking equipment, a torch, a portable camping shower, waterproof clothes etc, as this will make for a stress-free camping trip for you and your family. Many states are reopening campgrounds, but if your local campgrounds haven’t opened or you’re not comfortable going out yet, camp in your yard. You know how kids are-they’ll find a way to have fun in every situation, especially if it’s something new like camping. Make sure you look on campingfunzone.com to make sure you take the right gear with you.

Have a Pool Day

The hot and humid weather is coming if it hasn’t arrived already, so you and the kids are going to need a way to cool off. A lot of local pools either haven’t opened yet or aren’t planning to open this year, so you may need to take matters into your own hands. You can get a small kiddie pool for your yard or invest in an above-ground pool if you want the whole family to swim together. Alternatively, you could consider making a smaller investment. Instead of adding a swimming pool into your garden, you could look into getting a hot tub instead. Whilst this isn’t useful for swimming, it could be beneficial for cooling off or having friends round in the garden. If you’re located in the Denver area, you might want to look into Denver hot tubs, for example, to see if any of them would look good in your garden. A hot tub might be a nice garden feature, so be sure to look into that if you can’t afford to add a swimming pool.

Help Them Start Their Own Garden

Most kids enjoy getting their hands dirty, and a garden is one easy and fun way to start. There are two bonuses for starting a small garden with your kids. First, your kids will develop a sense of responsibility by managing the garden and a regular watering schedule-with your help, of course. Second, you’ll have fresh fruits and vegetables, and your kids will be amazed that they can eat food that they grew. Of course, there will be some things they (or even you) won’t be able to do. For example, you might need to help dig an orchard area out for them as it can be hard for them to do themselves or you might even need to get a tree service company in to make sure any trees in your garden are healthy. While your kids won’t be able to do this themselves, it will still be interesting for them to watch it happen.

Print Out High-Quality Activities and Crafts

While everyone wants to get outside when summer rolls around, there will be days when you just can’t. You may have unfavorable weather, or maybe you live in an area where social distancing is difficult. In that case, you’ll have to get creative with indoor activities. Luckily, there are a lot of unique things you can do with your printer such as printing high-quality crafts and games. By printing different activities, your kids will get to work with their hands and keep their minds engaged while keeping their eyes away from screens.

We know you want your kids to be happy and have fun. That’s why we put together this list of ways to make this summer awesome for the kids. There are endlessoptions to choose from, but the ones listed here are some of our favorites, and we hope you enjoy them, too.
