Eating on the GO in 2018

Protein Bar

Many of you have set new year’s resolutions that begin with a cleaner diet and healthier options am I right? Just because you forgot your healthy snack or lunch doesn’t mean you have to go down the road to the closest fast food restaurant and binge on a cheeseburger and fries. More and more gas stations, convenience stores, coffee shops and grocery stores have healthy pre-packaged snacks and lunch options. It’s all about thinking ahead on what you would do in that situation.

I know it is hard to believe but there are some healthy snacks at most gas stations:
  • Low Sugar Protein Bars (aim for under 10 grams of sugar and more than 15 grams of protein)
  • Fresh Fruit
  • Greek Yogurt
  • String Cheese
  • Unsalted Nuts
  • Low Sodium Jerky and Turkey Jerky

healthy snacks

Another quick stop that has plenty of options is a grocery store:
  • Salad Bar or Pre-made Salads
  • Fresh Fruit
  • Yogurt
  • Hard Boiled Eggs
  • Crackers and Lunch Meat

If you plan on stopping for a mid day pick me up at your local coffee shop you could easily pick up a snack:
  • Yogurt
  • Egg Sandwiches
  • Oatmeal
  • Protein Packs
  • Hummus and Crackers
  • Nuts and Seeds

Finally connivence stores like Walgreens, CVS and Rite Aid have good for you options as well:
  • Unsalted Nuts
  • Yogurt
  • Cheese
  • Small boxes of crackers
  • Low Sugar Protein Bars

Just be sure to pair the snack of your choice with water to stay hydrated.

Stocking your car glove box, backpack, locker and desk or work fridge with some healthy snacks is also a great idea!  That way when you are at work, school or out and about in town you won’t find yourself in a desperate situation.

If you have any favorite go to snacks from local stores please feel free to share!

Health and fitness has always been a very important part of her life, and, in the past, to a fault. She soon learned that it was possible to take care of her growing family and herself. When she took care of herself, she found herself taking better care of her family.

She wants to share her success of raising a family and staying in great shape with those around her. She strives to show families how important it is for parents to be interested in their own wellness. Because through their interest in health and fitness their children can see first hand the importance of fueling and using their bodies in the right way!

Meghan wishes to teach, help and coach people to achieve their fitness goals and improve their lifestyle by finding balance.
