Family Friendly Lexington Vacation

Family Friendly Lexington Vacation

Detroit Mommies! I’m over the moon that life has led me to THIS moment, where I can happily peck away on this keyboard and share my recent trip to Lexington, Michigan. You know when I find a family friendly Michigan vacation spot, I’m sharing! It can be hard to find those, though sites like Rental Cloud do help out a bunch. We were blessed to have been invited to Lexington by dear friends of ours who lovingly shared their cottage on Lake Huron with our brood, including the dog! That kind of hospitality, my friends, is LOVE!

1. Getting There:

Driving far away to get away, although scenic, can be exhausting. My first layer of love for Lexington was the drive: One hour, ten minutes outside of Macomb County. I even snuck in a Kroger run and we arrived within  one hour and thirty minutes. Upon arrival into Lexington, a village in Sanilac County, the first thing I noticed was the picturesque downtown, filled with eye-catching decor, landscaping and architecture.  You know that feeling of small town energy, with a relaxed level of interaction between pedestrians, shoppers, cars and sounds.

2. Lodging Galore!

We were happily tucked away with our friends, and you can find several perfect places depending on your needs. Check out those cottages and homes for rent via Airbnb!

3. What To Do:

Visit the beach for swimming, sun and sand castles, Lake Huron is the perfect shade of aqua and the kids loved the waves. Lexington has three beautiful public beaches on the Lake Huron Shore. Lake Street Beach, Simon Street Beach (Beach Volleyball Courts), and the Public Beach north of Jefferson Street. I was unprepared for how vast and blue the water was! Bring water shoes so that your kid’s little piggies are protected from the rocks that you’ll find mixed in the sand.

Chow down at my favorite Lexington eatery, A&W, at 5309 Main St, they bring the food to your car! YUM!

Head over to Croswell, on Maple Street and make your way across Michigan’s only swinging bridge! We had a riot running back and forth before we spent time playing on the two playground structures.

Catch a show at the Lexington Village Theatre, I was impressed by the number and variety of shows!
