Where to get Flu Shots in Detroit

The start of October means the beginning of flu season and I’m a firm believer in getting vaccinated! There was one year I skipped getting the flu shot and I was sick with the flu for nearly 2 weeks! In the US, an average of 20,000 children under the age of 5 are hospitalized for flu-related complications.

Let’s not repeat the American Influenza Epidemic of 1918-1919 where nearly 300 new cases were being reported each day and 100,000 students were out sick or being kept at home. 18,066 cases of influenza reported to Detroit’s Department of Health and 1,688 died from influenza or its complications. Another 10,920 cases came in January and February of 1919, when the disease made a significant comeback and physicians once again began reporting cases.

I found this website that tells you where you can get the flu shot if you are unsure where to go: https://www.flu.gov/
