Birmingham Kroger Store has Grand Re-Opening on December 12th

This is a sponsored post, however all opinions and views are 100% honest and my own.

Tomorrow is show-time for the Birmingham Kroger store.  The store has been closed for the last few months as the store underwent a $5.5 million dollar completely renovation. The store has its Grand Re-Opening at 6:00 a.m. Friday, December 12th.   The celebration includes free samples and demonstrations through-out the store. In addition the first 400 customers through the doors will receive a free reusable shopping bag and a $10 gift card!  Some of the free samples and demonstrations will continue over the weekend.

I had the pleasure of meeting with Ken McClure, Kroger’s Customer Communications Manager and Matthew Dakho, Store Manager this morning for a walk through of the newly renovated Birmingham Kroger Store.  All their hard work shows – the store is gorgeous! The earth tone color scheme gives the store a really nice warm feeling and the new lay-out featuring wider aisles is much appreciated.  A few of the nice features of the new store is the check out lanes near both the front and rear entrances, shelving that easier to reach, energy efficient lighting and a recycling center with a new outside entrance.

There are several new products and services available to shoppers. One of these is the new Murray’s Cheese Shop and olive bar.  Murray’s is a Greenwich-village based business in New York that has a reputation of offering the most delicious cheese from around the globe.  They have very helpful experts on staff to help you with your cheese pairings and cheese platter needs.

Another wonderful new surprise is the macaroni and cheese bar.  Shoppers can choose their own toppings and have their selection baked in less than 2 minutes.  There’s also six combinations listed on the menu just to get you started. I tried The Paisan, which included four cheese blend of Asiago, Mozzarella, Provolone and Romano, Italian Sausage, Pepperoni, Roasted Tomatoes, Garlic and Buttered Bread Crumbs.   It was delicious and worth a trip into the store by itself!  The macaroni and cheese is priced at $5 for a good sized foil container – this price includes all the toppings.

The store also offers bistro area with a great selection of prepared foods and made to order Boars Head sandwiches and a Starbucks Coffee Shop.

In addition to these unique features of the store, improvements were made to the large fresh meat and seafood department, bakery, fresh produce and floral area.  Size, selection and layout have all been upgraded, and of course you will still find the regular staples that all of us need.

I also noticed through-out the store many convenience items that would be perfect for holiday parties – cheese platters and shrimp trays that you could just grab and go.

The beer and wine department offers a huge array of products.  Not only do they have an outstanding selection, but they are also staffed with experts to help you choose the right bottle of wine or beer.   The staff seemed very happy and helpful on our visit, even though they were working hard to get the store in tip top shape for tomorrows opening.   This is Jack, he’s the “wine guy” and he would love to help you with your wine selection – expert advise ready for your questions.

The store has a very gourmet feel to it which makes for a very nice shopping experience.  I think Kroger did a great job at paying attention to details (small and large)  in the remodeling of this store and made it easier for shoppers.
