My Interview with Tara Perry (Marina) from the Fresh Beat Band

Who here has a child(ren) who just absolutely adores the Fresh Beat Band?  I can honestly say that my three girls 9, 6, and 3 adore them and I must confess, I really enjoy them as well.

I just recently was given an opportunity to do a mini interview with Tara Perry regarding the show, etc.  Tara Perry is such an inspiration to the younger crowd, it was a joy getting to know a little bit about her.

Lindsey: At what age did you start acting?

Tara: I started acting when I was 14. I did community theater and theater at my high school. I’d been singing and dancing though since I was about 5. I took tap, ballet, jazz and clogging for years. So I’ve always been a performer.

Lindsey: What was your audition like for the Fresh Beat Band?

Tara: I auditioned back in October 2010. At my first round of auditions I sang a Katy Perry song and did two scenes from the show from season 2. Then I got a call back. Then another. And another. Then I went to Producers. Then I tested for the network. Then, on my birthday, they called and said I got the job! It was a pretty stressful few months!

Lindsey: Are you close friends with all of your Co-Stars?

Tara: We’re actually all great friends! We hang out outside of work and now that we live together on a bus it feels more like family than just friends or co-workers.

Lindsey: What is your favorite about being Marina on the Fresh Beat Band?

Tara: I love that I get to be goofy. Marina is a fun character because she’s interested in her music and drumming but she’s also always down to goof around with her friends.

Lindsey: What final thoughts would you like to share with our readers?

Tara: I think it’s great when parents get involved with their children’s interests and activities. With our show, we hope we’re making a show the whole family can enjoy together. A family told us during a meet and greet that they’ve started a family band because of our show and the interest their kids are now showing for music. I think that is wonderful! Music is so important for early childhood development and I’m so honored to be a part of a show that encourages it.

Thank you so much to  Tara Perry for taking time out in her busy schedule to answer a few questions for us today.  It was a joy meeting you and getting to know a brief history behind your success with the Fresh Beat Band.

You can tune into the Fresh Beat Band every day on Nick Jr.
