On your Mark, Get Set, Go HALLOWEEN! #KmartHalloween

Halloween is my favorite holiday.  It’s so stress-free; you don’t have to buy gifts for anyone and there’s no cooking a giant meal for a bunch of relatives.  It’s just plain fun to go a little crazy or spooky or cute or ugly – whatever your preference.  Plus who doesn’t love the candy!

Is it too early to start shopping for Halloween costumes and decorations?   I don’t think so.  Last year I remember seeing all the Halloween stuff hit the shelf in mid-September and I thought   “are you kidding me” and I waited to make my purchases.   Most of the things I went back to pick up were sold out by the time I got around to it.   My plan is to start early this year.

I am a serial costume-maker.  I love to come up with an idea for a costume and then try to make it happen.  I have mixed results, the karate kid turned out great — the chameleon was a mess.   I can only remember twice in my childhood/young adulthood wearing a store bought costume.   I remember dressing up like a farmer with bib overalls, a bag of jelly beans, a nerd, the rest are a blur.  I remember my younger brother dressing up like a girl complete with my sister Lori’s sandals— he came home wearing only one of the sandal – OOPS!

My son has always been willing to wear my costume creations, but this year we are going to go a different route and actually purchase a costume.    We headed to www.kmart.com  to check out their kid’s selection.   I counted 132 costumes under just the BOYS section –   that’s a lot to choose from!  We quickly found out that Kmart is currently running a sale with all costumes 20% off this week only and free shipping on qualified Halloween ordersKmart also has an ongoing sale of up to 15% off costumes and free shipping on orders of $39.99 or more.  I can use my Shop Your Way Rewards card too – extra bonus.

It didn’t take us long to zero in a few favorites – his was easy using the “search by TV and Movie Characters” button we were looking for Star Wars costumes.  He decided pretty quickly and the Star Wars Clone Trooper Commander Cody was added to our cart.

Kmart has a huge selection of Halloween decorations and accessories.  The also have a section  called  Halloween Hub full of party idea’s and great stories  that Halloween  fanatics from all over have posted.   The Dungeon of Decorations had tons of Halloween lights, strobe lights, flog machines and life size inflatables. I was really happy with the selection of costumes and decorations on the Kmart website – it was super easy to do.  To see more of my on-line experience check out my Intersect story: https://intersect.com/stories/2NfR1YntWzsw
