Enjoy Year Round Water Park Fun at Castaway Bay

Just over a week ago I had the awesome opportunity to represent Detroit Mommies at a Mommy Blogger event at Castaway Bay.

Castaway Bay is Cedar Point’s year-round indoor water park resort located in Sandusky, Ohio. And with winter still in full force it was a great getaway for us twelve Mommy Bloggers and our families, because inside Castaway Bay water park it is 82 degrees every day!

The huge indoor water park has family friendly accommodations, all the necessary resort amenities and daily visits by Snoopy, Charlie Brown and their friends.

The water park has features for all ages and the 100,000 gallon wave pool was a hit with my daughters who are 10 and 7. My daughter Jayden and I had great fun riding the waves as well as diving into them.

For those who love to scream, like my daughter Ryann, Rendezvous Run Water Coaster is the perfect attraction. The 35-foot-tall water coaster carries riders through a twisting course of hills and turns, much of which is in the dark!

Even though my water slide-loving girls may not admit it, they also had a great time in the Lookout Lagoon Family Funhouse. This four-story structure is all about getting wet! Featuring a huge 1,000-gallon bucket, it also has four slippery slides and dozens of soaking gadgets.

My husband and I took turns racing the girls on the three body slides. These slides are 35-foot-tall and send riders speeding through sweeping curves that lead to a big splash landing in a pool. I wasn’t prepared for the pool landing and sent water straight up my nose! Good times!

You can also have fun in the 80,000-gallon activity pool has basketball hoops and sea creatures to climb and on the cargo net climb with floating treasure chests. And finally for those with wee ones there is the toddler’s tide pool: My girls refused to go in, but families with preschool kids and younger will appreciate the area, just like parents with teens who can go off on their own will love the indoor/outdoor hot tub. It was a nice way to decompress.

In addition to our night at the resort and water park passes for our families, the Mommies were invited to a small party at The Spa at Castaway Bay on Friday night. So, while our husbands, friends, etc. watched the little ones splash around, the ladies representing Michigan, Ohio and Chicago went to see what the spa has to offer.

The Spa at Castaway Bay has a menu of services that include massages, facials, manicures, pedicures, body waxing, and Botox and Juvederm services. It also has a private spa pool and aromatherapy whirlpool.

We received a tour of the whole spa area and it was very serene and peaceful. The perfect place to get your feet rubbed while your family enjoys Castaway Bay or even Cedar Point in the summer.

While the Mommies dined on classy snacks and healthy (i.e. non-alcoholic) drinks we were shown a preview of the products the spa carries including Guinot and BareMinerals, and told about the various fitness classes offered during peak business times (when Cedar Point is open). We even saw a Hula Hoop demonstration which is part of a Hula Hoop fitness class offered at the spa! It looked easy but you could tell that it was quite an intense workout!

Some of the Mommies won spa services and were able to redeem them on Saturday before heading home. We found out that the spa pool area is available for parties, showers and other catered events and it has a great view.

One of the greatest family features at Castaway Bay is that your water park passes are good for the day you arrive and the day you leave. Families can enjoy the part before their room is even available and stay after they have checked out.

There are plenty of places to eat including an onsite T.G.I. Friday’s and Mango Mike’s Bountiful Breakfast Buffet was fantastic.

You can also keep your kids entertained out of the water by spending time at Woody’s Chart room with comfortable furniture and four TVs, including a 50-inch LCD TV. In the evening kids will enjoy PEANUTS™ movie and story time with Snoopy and Camp Castaway for crafts and games.

Castaway Bay offers some great deals too, including during Cedar Point’s operating season. Castaway Bay guests can purchase one-day tickets to Cedar Point for only $29 and enjoy early entry one hour before the park opens to the public!

My family and I had a great time exploring Castaway Bay and all it has to offer. There was nothing we needed that wasn’t available on site. We were even able to buy a birthday present for my daughter to take to a party when we got home later on Saturday.

We ate a late pizza dinner on Friday night and my husband and I enjoyed a few beers. The breakfast buffet was wonderful and hubby and the kids loved the pool side snacks as well.

The ladies at the spa were very friendly and open to all of our questions no matter how silly we felt the questions were. It was really a fantastic little getaway and honestly much needed, and appreciated!
