It’s that time of year again — FOOTBALL, FOOTBALL, FOOTBALL – oh and don’t forget the food.

Around our house NFL play-off games, the Pro-Bowl and the SUPER BOWL rule. We make plans around it, or at least my husband does. It’s a great time of year to be indoors anyway. Sometimes just the family watches the game – but sometimes we invite people over to get things a little more exciting. Once we know how many people are expected I come up with a menu. I make a list of what I need and head to the store – this usually includes a stop at the local Super Walmart to pick up the items we need. The store was all decked out for football season – there were decals on the floors around some displays making it look like a football field. There were banners everywhere – very festive.

Right now we are planning a Pro Bowl party – this time we are taking the party on the road – to my sister’s house. It should be fun as her house is always filled with wild and crazy kids. I guess you could say this is a warm-up to the SUPER BOWL. I want the food to be good and yet easy to make – I want to enjoy myself too! On the menu is: Pizza, Salad, Nacho Chips and Rotel dip and cookies.

We thought we would try the self-rising DiGiorno pizza this time around. I couldn’t believe all the different varieties – we decided on Pepperoni, Garlic, Spinach & Mushroom and a Supreme. Our timing was a little bit off because just as we were leaving a lady wheeled a cart into the pizza aisle she was going to be giving out free samples of the DiGiorno pizza!

Then we grabbed the other groceries, picked up a prescription and headed to the checkout. Everything was easy to make, the pizza took a little while longer to bake than a normal crust pizza but it was worth it. We followed the recipe for a softer crust and it turned out really good. Everyone thought it was better than a traditional crust frozen pizza.

The games are always fun to watch, but having good food makes it even better.
