A few months ago, I wrote about Shutterfly providing great holiday cards. Well, my Christmas cards were delivered to my door. Now that they are sign, sealed and delivered, I’d like to share my experience with you.

Really, the hardest part of ordering the cards was selecting a layout. There are so many to choose from. Once I had that, I had the task of selecting a picture. We decided nothing we had really fit the Christmas spirit so we put up our tree and posed the kids in front of it for that perfect festive photo. Well, as perfect as you can get with a three-year-old and a one-year-old.

Our Christmas card featured an image of our daughters.

Getting the photos uploaded and onto my card was very simple. I had a discount code, which I entered at checkout. I received a confirmation email shortly thereafter and assumed I’d see my cards in a few days.

I placed the order on Sunday night. On Thursday, I checked the order so I could track it, but I saw a slight error. My discount code was never applied.  This discount code was the matter of me being able to afford them or not. I needed it applied. And preferably before my husband saw the bank statement. So, I called customer service and after a lengthy hold period, I was connected to someone at Shutterfly. There appeared to be a volume issue and I had to nearly yell in order for the representative, who I assume wasn’t local, to hear me.

They were easy to make and saved me tons of time.

After getting my information, the customer service rep told me he would have to check with a supervisor. He left me on hold for several minutes and came back. He offered me a Shutterfly credit for the amount. That simply wouldn’t do. I explained that I wanted to use the discount now because it was only going to apply to this order. He said it was policy. I said I would await the delivery of my cards, return them (Shutterfly has an awesome return policy by  the way) and repurchase them.

I was really in a time crunch to get my cards out so this wasn’t ideal, but I figured it would work. He put me back on hold.

When he came back, he said he received permission to credit me the amount. Phew. I really didn’t want all that hassle.

Later that day, the cards were at my house.

And they were perfect.

We selected a simple, yet classic design. It definitely made the card process so much easier. All I had to do was address the envelopes, insert our newsletter and send them off.

For those who don’t want to do all that work, Shutterfly will even mail them for you!

I’d definitely consider doing it again next year.

And now the fine print: While I was offered a discount code from Shutterfly.com for doing this review, the words and opinions written here are my own.
