Tangled Thanksgiving at Kruse and Muer

2010 was one of the best Thanksgivings we’ve ever had!  Sorry Mom.  Our friends and their daughter flew out from California to spend Thanksgiving week here with us  and we had the best time sharing all of our favorite things to do in Michigan.

We started Thanksgiving day with a brisk 2 mile run down to the local 7-11 to grab the paper with all of the Black Friday ads.  We wanted to prepare a game plan to get the best deals we could for everyone on our Christmas list. We scoured the ads, chose when and where to go and then circled everything we planned on purchasing.

We had a lazy morning and prepared a spread of hors d’ourves that consisted of chicken wings, hot spinach and artichoke dip, veggies and dip,  guacamole, deviled  eggs, gourmet cheeses we picked up in Frankenmuth and more.  After stuffing ourselves with the yummy snack foods, we all dressed up in our holiday finest and headed to see Tangled at Great Lakes Crossing.

The movie Tangled was great!  Disney did it again.. we have fallen in love with yet another princess and her name in Repunzel.  She has LONG blond hair, HUGE green eyes and everyone she meets adores her.  After the movie, we piled back into the cars and headed over to Kruse and Muer for our Thanksgiving dinner.  My mouth waters when I think about how good the meals was!

The menu was superb:

Oven roasted Apple Cider Brined Tom Turkey with Yukon Mashed Potatoes, Apricot Glazed Harvest Vegetables, Sweet Potato Casserole, Cranberry Cherry Sauce and Romeo Apple Stuffing.

The meals were served with warm housebaked bread and soup or salad.  I chose the Martha’s Vinyard Salad which is how I start any meal at Kruse and Muer!  The plates were piled high just like Thanksgiving at home and they simply outdid themselves by making one of the best Thanksgiving meals I have every had at a restaurant!  If we go out again on Thanksgiving, Kruse and Muer will be my first choice!

After dinner, we rolled ourselves back into the car and drove through downtown Rochester.  Even though the official lighting of downtown isn’t until next weekend, they have already turned on the switch.  The Big Bright Light Show is on and we enjoyed it with our friends that would be leaving before the official lighting.

Once home, we all slipped into nice warm pj’s and popped the box of Cheescake Factory cheesecake out of the fridge.  I personally couldn’t squeeze any more food into my body, but the others enjoyed a slice of heaven before heading to bed.

2010 was by far one of my favorite Thanksgivings!  How was yours?
