What Can and Cannot Be Recycled

I’m HUGE on recycling.  Whatever can be recycled I recycle.  There is some confusion about what can and cannot be recycled.  Here are some guidelines to help you along the way:

What CAN be put into your recycle bins:

  • Plastics- containers with codes 1-7
  • Grocery bags
  • Clear and colored glass
  • Metal
  • Paper, phone books, magazines and brown paper bags
  • Cardboard- cut into 2’x2′ pieces and tied in bundles
  • Paper board and box board- cereal boxes, tissue, shoe boxes
  • Household batteries placed in a clear plastic bag and placed on top of your recycling container

Items that Can NOT be recycled:

  • Paper milk or juice cartons
  • Styrofoam or packing materials
  • Garbage
  • Propane tanks
  • Paint cans
  • Medical waste
  • Flammable liquids
  • Household cleaners
  • Dry or liquid chemicals
  • Wood items
