cookies for santaEvery year my daughters and I make homemade cookies for Santa.  I find a sugar cookie recipe on the web, buy sprinkles and icing and pull out the cookie cutters.

We bake angel, reindeer, tree and candy cane shaped cookies.  We spread green, red and white icing and add sprinkles.  We have so much fun and then before the girls go to bed, we place a few of the cookies on a plate and pour a nice cold glass of milk for Santa to enjoy when he stops to deliver presents at our house.

I did it when I was a child and now I am passing the tradition to my children and love to see their excitement when they find that Santa has taken a few bites of the cookies they left and a few sips of the milk.

It’s exciting for them and charming for me.  The Santa Cookie Plate on the left is one I found at Pottery Barn Kids and it comes as a set (plate and mug) for $34.00.
