Marketing Your Buisness the Frugal Way

One thing that is fun about owning your own business is being creative with marketing. You want to get your product out there into the consumers hands, but in today’s economic slump, spending thousands of dollars for a magazine add just isn’t in the budget!

One way I have marketed The Original Changing Clutch is by celebrity gifting. Participating in celebrity gift baskets is a risk, but so is an add in the back of a magazine. You hope that the celebrity of choice is seen and photographed with your product in hand because that can be an instant success for your product. Also, not only are you gifting your product in hopes of a celebrity following but, you get a press release and photo to add to your websites press page.

Another way I have marketed The Original Changing Clutch is through social networking sites like Myspace, Facebook and Twitter. One cool thing is that using these sites to market is absolutely free! All it costs you is a little bit of time building and maintaining these sites. It is crucial that you do maintain and update your sites in order to bring people back. If they are coming back and there is nothing new, they will stop coming back, so keep it fresh and update your site by adding new company information, pictures and press to keep people excited about your brand.

I also “use” bloggers. Having a blogger review your product, talk about your product or do a giveaway using your product as the “prize” can do tremendous things for your products and it will only cost you materials, time and postage. This won’t happen instantly, but it will happen. I have gotten a lot of my sales from blog articles.

They say that a consumer needs to see a product three times before they are willing to take a chance on your product, so what better way than to have your favorite blogs talk about your product. Also, if you haven’t noticed, a lot of the bloggers are friends, so you’ll see the banners of your favorite bloggers on your other favorite blogs, so the readers of these blogs are also reading those blogs…thus getting your name familiar with the consumer. See how quickly you can get your name out there! Also, by “using” bloggers to market The Original Changing Clutch I have moved to the #1 spot when doing a Google search for “diaper changing clutch”.
