You Moved From Where?
We decided about a year ago that we had to get out of California. Where we lived (Temecula Valley) the weather was too hot, the schools were not the best and frankly it was getting a bit crowded. My 4 year old will be starting Kindergartennext September, so we thought we should move to a place that had great schools and a great community.
My husband was born and raised in San Diego and he was ready for a change. He had gone on one of his baseball trips with his two best buddies and one of the stadiums he went to was in Detroit. Well, it wasn’t Detroit that he fell in love with, it was the suburbs that drew him to Michigan. He compared them to Irvine, CA, clean, new, beautiful. So, the search was on.
My husband was on the Internet day and night searching for THE BEST schools, THE LOWEST crime rate and THE BEST community and came up with the Rochester Hills. He kept going over the stats and dug high and low all over the web and everything kept us moving in the direction of Rochester Hills. So, in April 2008 we packed up our house and headed to Rochester Hills, Michigan.
So far, and I don’t think my mind will change, Rochester Hills has been a dream come true. The community is wonderful, the people are the kindest, most thoughtful bunch I’ve come across in a LONG time and we are just loving living in Rochester.
My plan for this blog is to take you on my venture into Rochester Hills, so that if you are new to the community like I was at one point, you will be armed with more knowledge about where to go and what to do in Rochester Hills, MI. than I was when I got here. So far, I’ve gotten some really great referrals and plan on sharing those with you and I’ve eaten in some pretty yummy restaurants that are sure to make your mouth water.
I hope you enjoy this blog, and please make comments! This is the only way I will know how to make this a better and more informative blog and how anyone will get to know Rochester Hills a little better.
